The educational program of the Winterest Community School Disrtict offers students an opportunity to excel academically by providing them with a balanced curriculum with special attention paid to their individual needs. The school district often enjoys statewide recognition for the quality of its education program.

Business Record, Iowa Golden Circle's Business newsletter, had an article relative to Eaton Technologies locating in Winterset. The article stated that the company's management were dazzled by the Winterset High School. Particualary noted was television station and the fact that the 1985 class graduated twelve National Merit scholars.

Students are expected to perform to their capacity and educational activities are designed to challenge the capability and aptitude of all students. The classroom environment provides an attitude of caring and appropriate climate so that students may develop with proper social interests and values.
